1. Product Information

This extension is called WebKB - Local Knowledge Clipper. WebKB is a local-first browser extension that helps users save, organize, and read web articles as a personal knowledge base.

2. Data Processed and Stored

WebKB only processes content when the user intentionally saves or previews a page, or uses an optional AI suggestion feature. The data may include:

3. Where Data Is Stored

WebKB stores saved article files locally on the user's computer, typically under the WebKnowledgeBase folder in the user's Downloads directory.

WebKB also stores extension settings and library metadata in chrome.storage.local in the user's browser.

WebKB does not operate its own server to store users' saved articles, browsing history, API keys, or library data.

4. AI Data Transmission

AI features are optional. WebKB only sends article data to an AI provider when the user intentionally clicks an AI suggestion or translation-related action that requires such processing.

When AI suggestions are used, WebKB may send the article title, URL, summary, and part of the article content to the AI provider selected by the user in Settings. This is used to generate suggested categories, tags, and summaries.

Supported AI provider options may include DeepSeek, Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Ollama, Chrome Built-in AI / Translator, and custom OpenAI-compatible APIs, depending on the user's configuration.

Chrome Built-in AI / Translator features, when available, are processed through the browser's built-in capabilities. Ollama is intended for user-managed local or self-hosted AI usage.

The WebKB developer does not receive, proxy, log, or store AI request contents.
